Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community had expressed its support for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
