Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
