A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, adding that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Following the killings, public individuals offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative statements that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and implied they showed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser should have acted when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
