Torrential Precipitation Aggravate Situation for Evacuated Palestinians in Gaza, Agencies Caution
Heavy precipitation over the recent period have worsened the extremely difficult circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted Palestinians in the territory, as stated by relief organizations.
"Horrendous" Weather Creates Serious Dangers
A spokesman detailed the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.
"These conditions was truly difficult for the families. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gales were so strong," said the official.
Officials express extreme concern that children sheltering in temporary structures in wet garments will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.
Fatalities and Widespread Loss
Health authorities have reported that one baby has passed away from exposure and at least 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins due to the harsh conditions.
Other reports indicate a greater number of casualties. Spokespeople reported that numerous structures had totally fallen and many others had sustained partial collapse.

Relief Operations Seen as Inadequate
Groups have stepped up shipments of tents, bedding and clothing following the truce began, but they have said there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Officials are striving constantly to deliver that assistance and to allocate it, but the size of the needs is so enormous that we are faced with thousands of people and children who are truly enduring hardship nightly," warned one official.
Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Provisions
The second phase of the agreement involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other provisions.
Humanitarian bodies have underscored the need for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to address urgent and long-term needs."
The conflict was triggered by an attack in October 2023. Following actions have caused a significant number of lives lost in the region, according to health ministry figures.
